This year has absolutely flown by, I’ve been so useless at blogging and keeping you all updated as I’ve been so busy shooting weddings that without even realising it, we are already in August! So as it’s coming up to Amy and Tom’s first anniversary I thought it was the perfect time to share the photographs from their big day! I’ve known Amy for years and had been following her wedding updates on Instagram and Facebook so I had a little insight into what the day would bring, but she can do a much better job of telling you all about it! Over to her…
“Me and Tom have been together for just under 7 years after he sold me my first car. He proposed on my 25th birthday…I was sat in bed opening my cards and presents, the one I opened last off Tom was a sparco shoe box. I laughed and thought he was trying to be funny by buying me a pair of race boots. I opened it and it was a mini pair of race boots (because I’d previously bought mini horse riding boots) with a huge engagement ring attached to it!
We got married in our village church as this was where Amy also got christened. And then we had our reception in Kenilworth at the farm because it’s soon to be sold and we wanted good memories of the place where Tom grew up. It was the most amazing day, everything we wanted and more. The sun shone, the food was delicious, the entertainment was awesome and everyone loved the dodgems!
Our vision of our day was to give all our guests something to do and not get bored. And to enjoy the food we had chosen, as you always remember the weddings with rubbish food! Our colour theme was pastel colours – so all 8 bridesmaids wore a different pastel colour but same style dress. And all the grooms party matched a bridesmaid with a same colour dicky bow.
I organised the whole wedding from start to finish. Our decoration was quite simple (less is more), with lots of pastel coloured bunting, fairy lights, tea lights, balloons and a beautiful flower crown. I made all the guest favours (sweet cones) as well as party activity boxes for the children. We upcycled step ladders and cut all the log centre pieces as well as making our own 3ft light up letters with our initials.
The highlights of our day were the horse and carriage along with the helicopter – which we surprised all our guests with by arriving at the reception. I’d tell all couples to have what you want, think about yourselves and not others as it’s your day. Invite who you like and don’t let others tell you differently! Enjoy every single moment of the day as it goes so quickly!
