Worcester Glamping wedding photography { AMANDA & ALEX }

With the weather getting colder and the nights drawing in, the summer sun seems such a long time ago! Today I’m sharing the wedding of Amanda & Alex who were blessed with bucket loads of sunshine for their June wedding at Bishampton church followed by afternoon tea at Worcester Glamping.

Over to Amanda to tell us more about their big day…

I met Alex on a night out…he was wearing an interesting hoodie that was a conversation starter…the rest is history! After 7 years together I went travelling as there were a few more things I wanted ticked off the bucket list. Alex wasn’t in a position to come with me so I went alone (scary!!). He met me at the end in Malaysia for a holiday for the last 2 weeks. We were on an island called Langkawi walking along the beach on the second day. We’d been on our scooter exploring and zipping round and I’d had the backpack while Alex drove.
We found an isolated beach and walked along until we got to a big driftwood log. Alex asked me to sit down as he had a present (I knew what I hoped was coming!) He said I could have the present but it came with a condition…he took the ring box out of the bag I had had on my back all day, got on his knee and said ‘the condition is you have to marry me!’. I was so gobsmacked that the ring had been on my back the whole day and also that he had managed to hide it from me! I said yes and it made the holiday together even more special after not seeing each other for a few months!

We’d been let down last minute by our original photographer who was booked months earlier so we had a mad week of searching, contacting and weighing up recommendations of photographers. We didn’t want to rush as photographs are very special to us; We take a lot of photographs ourselves and try to experiment and be creative with photography, so we didn’t want just anyone.
Jenny was recommended to us, we had a look through her portfolio and we liked what we saw – we wanted some formal photos but wanted more natural and fun ones. She seemed to capture this and everyone looked so relaxed in her photographs.

Although it was stressful having the original cancel on us, it was a blessing in disguise; Jenny was professional from the start and came to meet us at home to go everything we wanted and to run through a time line. We didn’t have to worry at all, she had it all sorted.
She also gave me some good advice to stop me tripping over my dress walking up to the church, I don’t remember much about those few minutes but I remember her reassuring words!

We got married in the church in Alex’s childhood village of Bishampton. His parents still live there and when I moved from Devon that’s where we lived for the first few months. All of Alex’s ushers also grew up in Bishampton so it was the only place in our minds that we would get married and I had a vision of them walking down the main street to the church…

Our wedding day was personal and reflected us perfectly. We had a relaxed country yurt with afternoon tea. We made all of the decorations ourselves including signposts and light up initials. Alex’s mum made the wedding favours of home made jam and we grew wild flowers in buckets at home and hung photographs of us with all our friends and family around the yurt. Lots of people camped and the day was the exact vision we’d planned. We put in a lot of work for months before, from hand making the invites to spending hours painting and cutting wood, collecting jam jars and bottles and sticking and glueing. The theme was loosely travel as we’ve travelled a lot together and independently so our table plan was an old map with big nails and travel tags and each table was named after one of our favourite places we’d been to together. Plymouth was the top table and we also had Langkawi in there, too!

What advice would you give any other couples about planning your big day, or any tips for the day itself?
Just do what the pair of you want; everyone will have their opinions, some won’t see your vision but you have to be true to what you want and the day will reflect this. Ask for help and do as much as you can yourself to save money.
Don’t skimp on photographers. After the day is over all you have is your memories and your photos, they are worth the price and a good one will make you relive that day again and again every time you open the album…
Thank you so much Jenny we love the photos they are just beautiful. Everything we wanted and more!
