I love being a Warwickshire wedding photographer, it’s a beautiful county and home to some wonderfully unique and unusual venues for weddings and civil ceremonies. From art galleries, to country pubs to famous theatres – there’s something out there to suit everyone!
Gone are the days where you can only get married in a church or a hotel. Nowadays there are so many venues that are licensed for civil weddings that you don’t have to settle for the cookie cutter hotel wedding.
Unique Warwickshire Wedding Venues
I’m keeping it local for this particular article but if you’re looking for unique wedding venues and are happy to travel outside of Warwickshire, there are a wealth of alternative venues within an hour’s drive of the county.
So without further ado, and in no particular order, here are my favourite ten unusual and quirky wedding venues in Warwickshire.
Lord Leycester Hospital
Not actually a medical establishment, this Grade I listed building uses the word ‘hospital’ in its ancient sense to mean a warm and welcoming establishment for the needy. Located in Warwick town centre, this charming group of timber framed buildings are steeped in history and character. There is a galleried courtyard where guests can enjoy drinks after the ceremony as well as a tiny tranquil garden hidden behind the Master’s House which is perfect for stealing a few moments away together for those all important couple portraits.
If you’re looking for an intimate and informal venue in which to say your ‘I do’s’ then this is one to check out. You can find more information on their website

Hatton Village Hall
I love a village hall wedding! And this is not your average village hall. Unlike many, Hatton is licensed by Warwickshire County Council to hold civil ceremonies. This charming Victorian hall is just outside the county town of Warwick and is a gorgeous little venue. Although it doesn’t have grounds as such, there’s tonnes of photo opportunities with the surrounding fields and nearby canal
The high, wooden-beamed ceiling and arched windows give this large room its distinctive appearance and it’s perfect for a DIY wedding for couples who want to put their own stamp on it.

Bourton Hall
Brand new for 2020! I was super lucky to be able to take a peek at this venue which opens it’s doors this coming August. It’s still undergoing renovation at the moment but it was still clear to see what an impressive, stunning venue it’s going to be.
I was totally blown away by the array of period features, the stunning bridal suite and the chapel will make the most awesome place to say your “I Do’s”. If I wasn’t already married, it would be very high up on my shortlisted venues. I’m super excited to have been selected to be a recommended supplier at the venue and I’m looking forward to shooting my first wedding there (I’m offering an exclusive discount for the first couples to book me for their Bourton Hall wedding…read more here!)

Compton Verney
A renowned art gallery in a beautiful Grade I listed georgian mansion surrounded by 120 acres of picturesque Warwickshire parkland. Civil ceremonies can take place in the stunning Adam Hall with it’s marble floor and ornate ceiling, in one of the art galleries or outside beneath the pillared portico. For blessings, there is also the recently restored on-site Grade I listed chapel.
This really is a unique venue and one of my absolute faves in Warwickshire…just imagineĀ sipping champagne and mingling with your guests amongst a world-class art collection!

Just outside Kenilworth amongst 690 acres of Grade II listed parkland is Stoneleigh Abbey. A striking stately home with historic charm and elegance, this Warwickshire venue offers a number of different, but equally unique, spaces to hold your wedding ceremony and reception.
There is the traditional Saloon with it’s grand chandeliers, marble pillars and 18th century plasterwork. If you prefer a modern vibe, exchange vows bathed in natural light in the restored Victorian Orangery overlooking the River Avon. For those favouring an intimate gathering, the magnificent Gilt Hall in the West Wing overlooks the Abbey cloisters and boasts an Elizabethan knot garden. Finally, the Riding School – an impressive gothic style Victorian Banqueting Hall – is perfect for larger receptions.

If you have your heart set on an outdoor ceremony, the attractive garden has a beautiful gazebo licensed for civil ceremonies. Warwick House is distinctive and impressive with it’s versatile reception rooms, beautiful arched windows and pretty landscaped terrace.

This quirky little country pub venue offers something a bit different for weddings. It’s impressive and eccentric castle tower offers panoramic views over the historic Edgehill Battlefield. Although it has a Banbury postcode, the Castle at Edgehill is tucked just within the south Warwickshire border and is a short drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington Spa.
Revamped and reopened in 2014, civil ceremonies can take place in the dining room, library or glasshouse. With it’s large Victorian landscaped garden and views as far as the eye can see (sometimes as far as the Wrekin in Shropshire and the foothills of the Welsh mountains!), this is a beautifully unique 17th century wedding venue.
