Marry now, party later – that’s exactly what Catrin and Daniel decided to do! Right now is a really confusing and frustrating time for those couples trying to plan a wedding and so a lot of couples are opting to do the legal bit and celebrate with a bigger occasion at a later date. I’m 100% on board with this idea! I mean, who wouldn’t want to get to wear their dress twice? (or even buy another!) Not only does it give you a reason to celebrate in a year that has been, let’s be honest, an absolute shit show, it means you can forgo the official ceremony and just do whatever the hell you want when it comes to the celebration. Win win!

After getting engaged and moving to Birmingham at the beginning of lockdown, Catrin and Daniel had originally planned for a larger celebration but as the months passed and restrictions got tighter, they decided they just wanted to be married and booked an intimate wedding at Birmingham Register Office for just themselves and their parents.
Catrin called me just a few days beforehand as sadly their original photographer had to pull out due to self-isolating. We met up around 30 minutes before the ceremony to capture some couple portraits – the canals and urban buildings surrounding the Register Office make a fabulous backdrop for city wedding photography and I loved spending this time with them creating some natural and laid back portraits.
Following a short but emotion-filled ceremony we headed back to Harborne where we took advantage of the autumnal sunshine for some photos with their parents and a few more of just the two of them
